Over at Style Me Pretty, a blog for chic and design inspired brides, recent post have featured inspiration boards based on the little black dress. As soon as I saw this, I immediately thought of the cake I designed for Bride & Bloom Magazine which was based on a sexy black lace dress. I just loved the idea of doing something a little edgier. Continuing on with chocolate brown weddings, today’s inspiration board features bright green as the accent color. This combination is definitely a popular choice and you can see why! It provides a striking contrast that is so fresh and crisp.
I really love some of the details highlighted in this board. The bottom row features two playful and unique ideas for favors. Caramel and chocolate coated apples not only fit into the color scheme but are utterly delicious. Individually wrap in a cellophane bag and tie with a brown satin ribbon or display as a group as shown below. Even better… a cookie buffet is a new twist on the ever popular candy buffet. Bake up your favorite family recipes, display in large glass canisters and allow guests to assemble their own favor. Crisp white bags and a simple green sticker are the finishing touch. Enjoy!

Exciting times are ahead for our family… my little sister is engaged to be married! Not only will there be massive wedding mania, but our little family will grow again as we welcome in her finance and his family. Although this is still very new and they are just starting to think about the wedding, I couldn’t resist. She’s thinking about brown with either yellow or blue for the color scheme. So today we look at brown and pale yellow. Stay tuned for a brown and blue board… and maybe a brown and bright green board too!
