January 25th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 8 Comments

Yes, you read the title right.  Designer handbag cupcakes!  Just when I thought I had seen everything when it comes to cupcakes, I received an email from Rashida of Made FRESH Daily in Atlanta.  Rishida’s mini handbag cupcakes are just ridiculously cute (and impressive!).  The detail work on these handbag toppers is just phenomenal.  I can’t even imagine eating one of these… I would have to save my handbag and just go for the cupcake!  These cupcakes would be absolutely perfect for a fashionista party or as an unexpected birthday present for your favorite shopaholic.

Sweet Treat: Poptart Pops
January 6th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 7 Comments

The adorable pie pops in yesterday’s Snow Sprinkle post reminded me of something I’ve been dying to feature.  Inspired by Bakerella and created by Brooke McLay of The Family Kitchen, these Poptart Pops are just too cute!  Children of all ages love Poptarts and these darling ‘mini pops’ take them to a whole new level.  Modern, bite-sized and fun, these cherry Poptarts on a stick would be the hit of any party!

So much fun, right?  Brooke, you are a pop genius!  Hop on over to The Family Kitchen to learn how to make your very own Poptart Pops!

Happy Thursday!

Christmas Cookie Exchange
December 15th, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 3 Comments

Obviously, I like to bake.  But around the holidays there are so many other things to do!  So I understand that whipping up batches of Christmas cookies is not only time consuming, but can be overwhelming.  That’s why I love the idea hosting a Christmas Cookie Exchange.  It’s a great excuse to get together with your girlfriends.  And when the party is over, you’ll have a nice selection of cookies to take home with you.

Here’s how it works.  Each guest brings one type of cookie, then you swap!  Ask everyone to bring one dozen cookies per attendee, plus one extra to eat during the party.  As the hostess, you’ll supply a large table to lay out the goods, and be sure to keep the milk and coffee flowing.  You can find a detailed checklist to help plan your cookie exchange on Real Simple.  Now, for some cookie recipes to get you started:

Are you hosting a holiday cookie swap of your own?  Or are you attending one as a guest?  Tell us, what kind of cookies will you be baking?
