Prime-Time Bites
April 12th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 2 Comments

I can hardly believe it’s April already!  Before you know it, Sweeps Week will be here and then all of our favorite shows will wrap up for the season.  Personally, my TV time is more limited now (ever since my daughter was born!).  But there are a handful of shows that I still record and sneek in when I have the chance.  My absolute favorites include Modern Family and 30 Rock.  So when Food Network Magazine sent over a sneak peak of this feature from their May issue, I was hooked.  Recipes inspired by some of today’s top shows… these are Prime-Time Bites we can all enjoy!

From Manny’s salted chocolate milk dilemma on Modern Family to Jenna’s misspelled Carvel cake scam on 30 Rock, this feature pays tribute to some of the season’s best episodes.  Relive Glee’s BreadstiX duet competition and The Office’s christening episode with these playful recipes.  How clever, right?  Now you can sit back and enjoy the show while noshing on treats inspired by the show!

Modern Family’s Chocolate Salted Milk
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 6 cups cold milk
* Kosher salt

Directions:
Make the chocolate syrup: Combine the sugar and 1/3 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Let cool completely. Spoon about 2 1/2 tablespoons of the chocolate syrup into each glass. Add 1 1/2 cups milk and a generous pinch of salt. Stir until the syrup and salt dissolve. {recipe courtesy of Food Network Magazine}

Find all of these Prime-Time recipes in the May issue of Food Network Magazine (on newsstands April 12th) or online HERE at FoodNetwork.com.
