Real Party: Elegant Tea Party
June 29th, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 7 Comments

I am always amazed by the abundance of talent in this world.  Case in point – the talented mastermind behind today’s real party.  Tracey Lau is a mother of five with a passion for food, interiors, events and photography.  To celebrate her own 40th birthday, Tracey created this amazingly elegant tea party in French Blue, Chocolate, Caramel and Vanilla.  Everything about this party is crisp, clean and utterly perfect.

This party is definitely my cup of tea!  The cake is not only elegant but flawless.  The miniature foods included Ham, Jarlsberg & Dijon Mustard Croissants, Mini Quiche Lorraine and an assortment of sandwiches.  My favorite has to be the Chocolate Mousse Shots adorned with mini spoons and a ribbon.  Pure genius!

If you love this party, be sure to check out Tracey’s blog for even more fabulous party inspiration.  You will just adore the Kite Party she created for her son!  Prepare to be wow-ed!

Today’s real party is the perfect way to celebrate “tying the knot”.   This bridal shower, in shades of pink and green, has oodles of charming bow accents.  With a fabulous cake and dessert bar created by Jasmine Clouser, owner and head designer of The Couture Cakery, this shower is definitely one to love!

Everywhere you look, there are bows!  A classic theme that is so fitting for a bridal shower.  The crisp white cake is perfectly accented with a pink bow and cascading pink ribbons.  And all of the desserts look so delish to include the white chocolate dipped marshmallows and mini cupcakes with almond buttercream.

A very special thank you to Jasmine for sharing this event with us!  Be sure to check out more of her fabulous cakes and dessert bars on The Couture Cakery website and blog.

Real Party: Modern Safari
April 23rd, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 5 Comments

Today’s real party is a modern affair created by the talented Chris Nease of Celebrations At Home.  While Chris created this chic safari tablescape and dessert table for a girl’s night, it would also be perfect for a bridal shower or even a baby shower.  With pink zebra print, white jungle animals and tropical foliage, you’ll go wild for this sassy safari.

The Cheesecake Tartlets and  Brownie Pops look delish!  Here is a little of what Chris had to say about her modern safari party:

My inspiration came from the hot pink zebra striped cocktail napkins, and was reinforced after seeing Amy Atlas’ pink & orange zebra dessert table. I purchased a pink zebra sheet set, and some safari animals from Ross and Marshalls and got to work. I spray painted the animals white, and added adhesive gems for eyes. I added faux palm and tropical leaves, flowers and a few feathers to add to the look.

For the dessert table I made brownie pops, cheesecake tartlets, lemon bars, and purchased iced cookies and candies. I hung flower bud tubes along the zebra backdrop. A cocktail table was set up with a Mosquito netting hanging above, and lemonade/lemoncello cocktail set inside of a small suitcase. My fuzzy round rug made a perfect “table cloth” for the table with its fur-like texture.

A special thanks to Chris for sharing this charming party with us!  Be sure to check out her blog, Celebrations at Home, for more her wonderful work along with loads of great party inspiration.

Real Party: Tiffany Blue and Brown Shower
March 2nd, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 10 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone!  It’s nice to be back after a long weekend – a weekend full of bridal bliss for my little sister Ashley.  I was fortunate enough to make the trek down to Dallas to celebrate my sister’s upcoming wedding with family and friends.  Visits home are always too short and we try to pack in too many things, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  A bridal shower during the day, bachelorette party that night… we were crazy busy but had oodles of fun!

If you saw the sneak peak I posted last week, you already know that the shower was Tiffany Blue and Chocolate Brown with little hints of turquoise and green.  Let’s take a look…
Tiffany Blue and Brown Bridal Shower

I’m really infatuated with paper pom poms, so we lined the ceiling with Tiffany Blue ones.  A large white ‘B’ welcomed guests at the front door.  We also used a ‘B’ monogram throughout the shower on things such as the food tags, favors, and name tags.  The shower invitation was used to create a sign-in sheet that doubles as a nice keepsake for the bride.  For the favors, my older sis baked chocolate chip cookies (the bride’s fav) and bagged them up, attaching a turquoise ribbon and tag.

We played two shower games including “How Well Do You Know the Bride” where everyone answered questions about Ashley.  To spice things up, we had the groom give us his answers ahead of time, so we could see how well he did!

Flower arrangements with white tulips, calla lilies and hyacinths adorned the food table.  The menu included Chicken Caesar Sandwiches, Spinach Dip, Cheese Straws,  cheese and fruit.  Drinks included lemonade, coffee, water and a sparkling white cranberry Prosecco punch.  For sweets, we had chocolate chip cookies, brownies and chocolate chip cupcakes topped with vanilla buttercream icing and drizzled with chocolate.

This shower wouldn’t have come together with out the help of my family (who are so sweet and put up with my craziness).  A special thank you to Sunny, Jenn and Sheila for all of their help making this day so special for Ashley.  And congrats to Ashley and Dustin!  We’re looking forward to the big day!
