I cannot thank you enough for all of the kind comments and emails I received on yesterday’s post. I don’t normally share that much of my personal life with you. So to those of you who shared stories of your furry friends – thank you. It is truly comforting to know that many of you understand the unconditional love of a pet. Now as promised, back to the sweet stuff.
Today’s Real Party stood out to me because you can see the love and the joy in this celebration. It was more about celebrating with family than about staging a huge bash. Sometimes I think we can get caught up in all of the party details – the perfectly symmetrical dessert table and the over-the-top cakes. Sometimes it’s nice to step back and remember why we’re celebrating in the first place. This charming first birthday party, hosted by Melody of Innove Events, takes us back to the days when birthdays were about cake, ice cream and family.

Here’s what Melody had to share about this adorable party for her daughter Reese:
“In lieu of a huge first birthday party, I decided to keep it really simple with just our immediate families and stuff that I thought my baby girl would enjoy- bright colors, big balloons, and cake! I was really inspired by an adorable vintage birthday card that depicted a baby resembling Reese. I thought of the old school parties that were simple- cake & ice cream. Of course, I still had fun styling it and creating a cohesive look, but ultimately we ended up with a simple, sweet, and colorful fun time. I hired my wedding photographer with the money I saved by not having a big bash to capture it all.”

I love that Melody kept the party small and therefore was able to hire a photographer to capture the day. By now, the cake and ice cream are gone but they will forever have these gorgeous photographs. And really, this party was still incredibly adorable. Simple yet perfectly styled and just down right charming. I would expect nothing less from Melody! You should also check out her amazing
Princess & Pirates Party that we featured last May.
A very special thank you to Melody for sharing this lovely first birthday party with us. Wishing Reese many more beautiful birthdays to come!

Well, the holidays are officially over. Visitors have returned home, decorations are coming down and everyone is back to work. My husband will attest that I tend to get a little mopey this time of year. I love the holiday season and just get a little blue when it’s all over. So today I thought I would share a party that definitely makes me smile. This Fiesta Birthday Party, comes to us from Jeanine Linder, a talented Swiss photographer. It’s so sunny and bright, you can’t help but feel good when you look at these photos.

Here’s a little of what Jeanie had to say about this event:
“Ryan turned two on September 29th 2010 and invited friends & family to celebrate his special day. The color scheme was chosen to reflect his bright & cheery personality. I tried to apply the orange & pink on most parts of the setup even tried to have it reflected in most foods. We served mini white chocolate cupcakes, white chocolate ganache cornets, fresh raspberries, some marshmallows & sweet. For dip lovers we offered beetroot pesto, sweet chili mousse & vegetable dip. We had mozzarella-tomato sticks, cesar salad on small servers, homemade sweet potatoe chips, fresh focaccia bread, cookies called air kiss (and they truly are a kiss from heaven), caramel popcorn, red pesto prussiens, homemade bacon buns, original tarte flambee from the Alsace, cream puffs filled with smoked trout and fresh pumpkin soup. We also offered fresh baby-sized tomatoes and baby carrots. To drink we served a punch suitable for kids made out of sparkling water and apple juice garnished with fresh autumn berries, for the adults there was some sparkling wine available to mix. We also had matching syrups and soft drinks matching the theme. We decorated the area with small ghosts made of napkins, hung up a pennant garland and for each kid there was also a party hat available. As the highlight we served Ryan a white chocolate truffle gateau decorated with self-made birthday garland and a hand-painted figurine. People also have been asked to write Ryan a wish on a small note which we hung on the wish-tree on the buffet.”
A very special thank you to Jeanine Linder for submitting this adorable Fiesta Birthday Party and giving us all a cheery boost! Be sure to check out more of Jeanie’s stunning photography on her website and blog.
Today’s real party is another fabulous event by Jessica Levitt. Really, I just love featuring parties from this talented mom because they are always over-the-top amazing! We featured the Construction Birthday Party she threw for her son along with the Peaches & Cream Party she hosted for her daughter’s birthday. Both are completely fab – be sure to check them out if you missed them before!
Today we’ll take a look at the Race Car Birthday Party Jessica recently hosted for her son. Let me just say that this one lucky little boy. The details of this party are truly phenomenal! Everything from the race car table to the ‘Refueling Station’ of funneled drinks and the ‘real’ race car that took the kids out for a spin with a dash across the finish line. With checkered flags and hubcaps galore, this party is truly a winner!

Honestly, what little boy wouldn’t just love this party? For that matter, a think there are many grown men and racing fans who would love to have such a birthday! Jessica has truly outdone herself with this party. LOVE it!
