Real Party: Neapolitan Birthday
May 3rd, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 6 Comments

Today’s Real Party is an intimate birthday party with vintage charm.  Created by Lisa of Moore Minutes for her mother’s birthday, this sweet little event includes feminine details and soft colors.  A small group of close friends gathered at a Victorian coffee house for girl talk, coffee and sweets.  How perfect does that sound?  From the doilies, lace and roses to the six layer cake, cookies and ice cream… you will fall in love with this vintage Neapolitan Birthday Party.

{A few thoughts from Lisa about this event:}

“For my Mom’s birthday, we celebrated with a small circle of some of her girlfriends over some sweets and coffee.  Every detail, color, and flavor focused around neapolitan.  Because, Neapolitan represents the times when you can’t just choose ONE good thing in life to savor, so you choose to enjoy all!  Chocolate?  Strawberry?  OR…. Vanilla?  Hmmm, all 3 yes please.”

{A few thoughts from Lisa about the setting:}

“I discovered the ideal venue to celebrate at a proper Victorian coffeehouse called CUPS…. Doilies, Lace, Roses, Pastels, everything dainty and girly for this breezy afternoon celebration on the back porch.”

{More from Lisa about this event:}

“My Mom and a sweet circle of friends… girl talk about pretty things, shopping, and just stuff.  Cake, cookies, and ice cream is served.  The afternoon was spent enjoying pretty moments with pretty hearts.  It’s a blessed life we each get to live.”

A very special thank you to Lisa of Moore Minutes for sharing this charming Neapolitan Birthday with us.  Not only does it make a lovely birthday celebration but would perfect for Mother’s Day.  You can read more about this event HERE on the Moore Minutes Blog.

Real Party: Mad Hatter’s Tea Party
April 28th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 7 Comments

With the world’s eyes fixed on London and all of the Royal Wedding talk, I thought this party would be fitting for today.  This adorable tea party was created by Daria Bishop, a talented Vermont photographer, for her daughter’s 12th birthday.  This party has it all… cheerful colors, whimsical details, mad hats and amazing cupcakes.  Oh, and tea of course!  Inspired by an inherited tea set, this Mad Hatter’s Tea Party is perfectly charming.
Mad Hatter's Tea Party

A few thoughts from Daria about this lovely tea party:

“A seed was planted to have a tea party years ago when my dearly beloved Grandma Lois passed away and I inherited a set of nine lovely tea cups with matching saucers.  Summer was just a baby at the time of her passing, but I thought it would be perfect to one day have some of her little friends over for tea and finger sandwiches.  Well, the years flew by and suddenly Summer was turning twelve!!   One afternoon a couple of months ago, I took the kids to see the movie Alice in Wonderland and we loved it!  It was during the movie that I was inspired to finally have that tea party.”

Cupcake details from Daria:

“Marion Peer of Vermont Sweet Tooth in Stowe made the cupcakes which were unbelievably beautiful!!  Each and every one was a work of art.  They were almost too gorgeous to eat and they were delicious as well!”

Party activity details from Daria:

“The girls were given a hat to decorate for the party.  Andy created an Alice in Wonderland themed scavenger hunt for the grand finale.  The goody bags included a tea cup, a coaster and a box of tea.  Appropriate for the occasion.”

A few last thoughts from Daria:

“It was such a pleasure planning this party for Summer and her friends and such a joy seeing it come together.  I know my Grandma Lois would have been thrilled that her tea cups were so adored and appreciated!!”

Special thanks to Daria for sharing this lovely Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with us.  You can read more about this party HERE on her blog.  Be sure to check out more of her amazing photography while you’re there!

Real Party: Angry Birds Birthday
April 19th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 18 Comments

Today’s Real Party is a playful birthday inspired by some angry birds and evil green pigs.  This adorable event was created by Debbie, of Save the Date Events, for her daughter’s 3rd birthday.  Featuring an amazing cake by Intricate Icings, this party brings the game Angry Birds to life!
Angry Birds Birthday Party

Here is a little of what Debbie had to say about this party:

“In addition to weddings, we occasionally design parties for social celebrations such as birthdays. My three year old daughter is obsessed with the game Angry Birds. For her 3rd birthday, I did a simple Angry Birds themed party.”

More from Debbie:

“We ordered angry bird pins on Etsy for all the kids to wear at the party. We also had the invitation designed on Etsy along with a digital collage sheet of angry bird faces. I used various paper punches to create the angry bird circle accents. We used red and white scrapbook paper for the place mats (I cut rounded corners). The wood birdhouse was purchased at a craft store. I painted it red, added white feathers to the back and glued the angry bird face on the front.”

A few thoughts from Rachael of Intricate Icings about the amazing cake design:

“The birds and evil green pigs were the perfect characters to be made into cake pops and chocolate covered wafer cookies provided the ideal look of the “structures” you must destroy in the game. The only thing missing was the entertaining sound effects you hear when playing, but this cake was so much fun to complete.”
Angry Birds Birthday Cake

What a fun party coupled with an incredible cake!  The angry birds on the cake were actually cake pops, providing yet another treat for the guests.  I love when everything comes together so perfectly and the cake truly enhances the theme.  We are big fans of Intricate Icings (they are part of our Top Tier Directory) and it’s easy to see why.  This cake creation brings a game to life in the form of edible art…. talk about an excited birthday girl!

Special thanks to all of the talented vendors involved in this Angry Birds Birthday Party.  You can read more from Debbie about the Angry Birds party decor HERE on the Save The Date Events blog.
