By now you’ve probably heard the news that my husband and I are expecting our first child in September. Over the weekend, our baby girl received yet another fabulous welcome via a couple’s baby shower. A few weeks ago, I shared the pink and brown ladybug shower that my family hosted down in Houston. This time my husband was included and we celebrated with our friends here in Central Illinois. Two baby showers! I know, we’re very lucky and honestly a little spoiled! Check out this modern couple’s shower in black and white with purple accents, hosted by our good friends Ted & Meredith.

Meredith chose a modern
invitation by DwellStudio for
Tiny Prints that was just perfect. I love that it includes both a silhouette of the pregnant mom and the dad-to-be. Now, if I just looked as cute as that silhouette! Meredith incorporated the invitation design throughout the shower, creating a cohesive look without overwhelming the men with a typical ‘baby theme’.
Pops of purple created the perfect contrast to the black and white polka dots. I love the idea of using a hurricane vase and filling it with diapers to create a centerpiece. Such a modern twist on the traditional diaper cake. We played “Guess That Baby Food” and guests went home with an adorable and unique favor – hand soap labeled with our baby’s due date. Meredith also sent me home with matching note cards, keeping my thank you cards in theme.
We could not thank Ted and Meredith enough for hosting such a lovely shower. It was a wonderful way to celebrate with friends and welcome our little girl!
If you missed yesterday’s post, I shared some exciting news. My husband and I are expecting our first child, due in September! And to welcome our new little girl, my family hosted an adorable baby shower in Houston. It was such a treat to go back home to Texas and see my family and friends! And thanks to some very special ladies who were crafting and cooking for days, this pink and brown ladybug shower was just perfect for our new little lady.

Guests helped themselves to a candy favor bar with pink and brown M&M’s and taffy. Glass favor jars were topped with ladybugs, of course!

There were pink and brown ladybugs everywhere! From the diaper cake to the name tags, food tags and paper lanterns. Even the sign outside welcoming the guests. The menu included spinach dip, tarragon pasta salad, fruit, cheese, chicken wraps and chicken salad sandwiches (my pregnancy craving!). Drinks included mint iced tea, lemon water and a mango punch. For sweets, we enjoyed M&M cookies, little petit four cakes shaped liked ladybugs and these addictive Oreo truffle balls. Yumm!
Everything was just perfect and the food was delicious! I couldn’t have felt more love for our new little girl. Thanks to Ashley, Cathy, Jenn and Sheila for hosting such a wonderful shower to welcome Baby Sellman.
Today’s real party is a gray and yellow bird themed baby shower with an emphasis on clean lines, bird silhouettes and eggs. Created by Rachel Lewis, an event planner from Phoenix, this sophisticated shower implements a theme in a chic and modern way. I love the color combination and the sassy feather accents.

This shower is just lovely. The delish menu included grilled chicken caesar salad served with onion or plain bread sticks. Dessert included lemon curd tarts and individual angel food cakes with sweet cream. Sparkling lemonade and ice water with lemon slices made for a refreshing drink station.
There are so many thoughtful details to this shower, so be sure to get the full scoop here. A very special thank to you Rachel Lewis for sharing this amazing shower with us! You can see more of Rachel’s delightful work on the Phoenix Event Planning Blog.
Today’s real party is an adorable baby shower thrown in honor of Catherine Bell, star of Lifetime’s show Army Wives, who is expecting a baby boy in August. This intimate shower was hosted by Cottonelle and guess who was in attendance. The cuddly Cottonelle puppies! Babies and puppies – can it get any better than that? Only if you throw in an amazing cake designed by Rosebud Cakes.

The detail work on this cake is definitely impressive! I love the Cottonelle puppy on top holding the baby. How sweet is that? Guests, Catherine and her family were able to play and pose with the real puppies during the shower. Sounds like my kind of shower!
A special thanks to Cottonelle for sharing this delightful shower with us. Congrats and best wishes to Catherine Bell and her family.
