December 3rd, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 3 Comments

It’s Friday again and it’s time for another Fabulous Cake!  Today’s stunning creation plays on the hot macaron trend.  Everywhere I look, I see macarons lately!!  Well this cake takes macarons to a whole new level.  This sleek design was created by Andrea Boudewijn, the talented cake artist behind Superfine Bakery in Los Angeles.  Inspired by architecture, fashion, modern art and nature, Superfine Bakery brings modern, luxurious cakes to life.  Take a peek…

I love the structure and simplicity of this design.  It would be perfect for a wedding but also for a birthday, anniversary or even holiday event.  The macarons not only add a touch of fun but a nice textural element as well.  Just superb!

Kudos to Andrea on a cake well done – we love it!  And thanks for the amazing cake inspiration.  Be sure to check out more of Andrea’s fabulous work on the Superfine Bakery website and blog.

Check back with us later today when we post the winner of our Crate & Barrel Giveaway!  Will it be you?!?

Today we take a moment to pause and reflect on all of the many blessings in our lives.  Personally, I am thankful for my family, friends and our sweet new baby girl.  I’m also incredibly thankful to have the opportunity to share my love of cake and parties with all of you.  To the creative individuals who share their beautiful parties, the talented cake artists who share their designs, the generous vendors who sponsor our site and all of our loyal readers – Thank You!  Half Baked would not be possible without all of you.

And what is Thanksgiving without a little turkey?  Here is a little gobbler that is just too cute…

Fabulous Cake Friday: Pink Cake Box
November 19th, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 2 Comments

I honestly cannot believe it’s Friday already.  This week has just flown by!  I know the posts this week have been a little sparse.  Getting ready for holiday company and taking care of a newborn doesn’t leave much time for blogging.  I know – no excuses!  Whatever the case, I couldn’t let Friday go by without sharing a Fabulous Cake perfect for fall.  And this week’s design is a gorgeous Thanksgiving Cornucopia cake by Pink Cake Box.  You probably already know that I love Pink Cake Box and it’s easy to see why…

This would be such an impressive display at your Thanksgiving celebration.  The golden fondant is accented with chocolate brown ribbons and bows and then topped with a cornucopia filled with pumpkins, apples, pears, and squash.   It’s simply fall and simply beautiful!

Anne Heap and her talented team have been creating fabulous cakes, pleasing customers and inspiring cake artists for five years now.  For their stunning work, attention to detail and creativity – I am thankful! You can see more of Pink Cake Box’s fabulous cakes in our Top Tier Directory and also on the Pink Cake Box website and blog.

Happy Friday everyone!
