Who says Halloween is just for kids?  Everyone can enjoy a frightfully good time on Halloween night.  So why not treat your adult friends to one of these creative cocktails after the little ghosts and goblins are down for the night.  Or try out one of the creepy cocktails, if you dare!
Creepy Cocktails

{clockwise, starting at top left:}
  • This Espresso Martini delivers a powerful kick!  The dark espresso garnished with an orange wedge pays tribute to the traditional orange and black Halloween colors.  Get the recipe from Ina Garten here.
  • The Liquefied Ghost Cocktail is like a grown up milkshake served in a martini glass.  Boo-tiful!  Get the recipe from Fine Living here.
  • The Bloody Brain Shooter is not for the faint of heart.  Irish cream is used to create the realistic looking strands of ‘brain’.  Now that is one freaky looking shot! Get the recipe from Fine Living here.
  • The Blood Sucker Cocktail is a sweet mix of triple sec, rum and pineapple juice.  So sweet you’ll want to suck it down!  Get the recipe from Fine Living here.

Cheers!  Hope you enjoy these spooky spirits!  Remember, tomorrow we announce which lucky reader will win a $75 gift card to Beau-coup!  If you haven’t entered our Spooktacular Giveaway, today’s the last day!

Spooky Spirits!
October 31st, 2008 by Carrie Sellman | No Comments

Halloween has arrived! Of course children love this holiday filled with thrills, frights and tons of candy! But what about sharing a spooky treat with your adult friends? So gather the girls and serve up this creepy cocktail… a Ruby Red Rocket Cocktail!

Spooky Spirits

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 ounces citrus flavored vodka
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec
  • 3 ounces red grapefruit juice blend
  • 2 teaspoons creme de cassis or raspberry liqueur
  • Coarse brown sugar crystals, optional garnish to coat rims of the glasses
  • Candied orange slices, optional garnish
Directions
If desired, wet the rim of a tall martini glass, then dip in the coarse brown sugar crystals. In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, triple sec, and juice with crushed ice. Shake well for 30 seconds, then strain into the prepared martini glass. Gently add the creme de cassis, allowing to fall to the bottom of the glass. Garnish with a candied orange slice, if desired, and serve.

Happy Halloween!

It’s almost the weekend… which is reason enough to celebrate! Why not try a refreshing Italian cocktail, the Sgroppino. Light and fresh, it’s simple to make and sure to impress.
Sgroppino

  • 1/2 cup chilled Prosecco (Italian sparkling white wine)
  • 1 tablespoon chilled vodka
  • frozen lemon sorbet
  • a spring of fresh mint

Pour the Prosecco and vodka into a Champagne flute. Add a small scoop of sorbet into the flute. Garnish with mint and serve immediately. Enjoy!

For a different twist, try raspberry or peach sorbet. Yummm…
