Ballerina Inspired Sweets
June 9th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 6 Comments

What little girl doesn’t love to dance?  And as big girls, we all look back fondly on our first dance class… the tutus, the tights, our hair swept back into a neat little bun.  Maybe it’s because of the movie Black Swan.  Maybe it’s because dancers are the ultimate image of elegance and grace.  But girls of all ages are enamored with ballerinas and we see this theme spreading into events everywhere.  From bridal fashion to birthday parties, ballet inspires.  So today we’re oohing and awing over some lovely ballerina inspired sweets.
Ballerina Inspired Cake by Intricate Icings

I am completely mesmerized by this cake!   This feminine and romantic design was created by Rachael of Intricate Icings and it could not be more lovely.  The whole scene is dreamy with its ribbon backdrop, candles and soft sunshine.  Love it!  You can see the full wedding photo shoot HERE on Style Me Pretty.

Retro Candy Week: Candy Buttons
May 16th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 15 Comments

I love all of the retro candy dessert tables we’re seeing lately.  Today I thought we’d focus in on one particular childhood favorite, Candy Buttons.  Remember those?  A paper strip full of little dots of sweetness.  The bright colors are perfect for spring and summer and would add a whimsical touch to any party.  Whether you roll up them up, throw them in a glass bowl or put them on a cake, Candy Buttons are just plain fun!  Here are some charming ways to add Candy Buttons to your next party.
Candy Button Cake

I absolutely love this Candy Button Cake by The Pastry Studio!  Such a clean and clever way to feature this retro candy.

Candy Button Cupcakes

Roll up Candy Button strips and stack on a cake pedestal for a unique and colorful display, like this one from Sweet Kiera.  Or cut paper strips into squares and place on top of a cupcake to create Candy Button Cupcakes, like these from The Sugartarian.

Candy Button Party Inspiration

A glass bowl never looked so good as when filled with Candy Buttons, like this one by Some Green Tea.

However you do it, Candy Buttons will add a playful retro vibe to your party!  Have any other suggestions on how to showcase Candy Buttons?  We’d love to hear them!

Fab Find: Tree House Collection
January 12th, 2011 by Carrie Sellman | 7 Comments

As I watch the snow come down outside and put on another sweater, I long for summer to be here!  Clear blue skies and the warmth of the sun.  Considering it is only January, I have a long time to wait.  But in the meantime, this cheery party collection will fulfill my summer longings.

Kim from The Celebration Shoppe has done it again with another party collection that is too cute for words!  This Tree House Collection takes me back to summer days filled with kite flying, tin can telephones and popsicles.  What child wouldn’t love to celebrate their birthday with these goodies?
