Real Party: Yo Gabba Gabba
August 31st, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 3 Comments

Today’s real party is a bright and bold birthday.  This adorable Yo Gabba Gabba party was submitted by Krista of Kiki’s List, the mother and creative mind behind the party.  Created for her daughter’s second birthday, this party was perfect for Krista’s little Yo Gabba Gabba fan!

The bright colors really make this party pop.  The character cutouts are such a fun addition for both the kids and for the parents who love to take pictures!  And the cake by Tastefully Treated fits perfectly into the party decor.

A special thank you to Krista for sharing this adorable birthday party with us. Be sure to hop on over to Krista’s blog, Kiki’s List, to read more about this party!

Real Party: Pink Sparkle Birthday
August 30th, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 5 Comments

Today’s real party is truly a pleasure for me to post.  I received this party from one of my previous cake customers back in Dallas.  I designed a first birthday cake for Erin’s oldest daughter almost four years ago.  I was thrilled to not only hear from her, but to know that she continues to follow Half Baked.  Erin’s second little girl just recently turned one and she put together this fabulous Pink Sparkle Party for the celebration.

This party is just too cute and the birthday girl could not be more adorable!  Erin created most of the details herself, including the cupcakes, toppers, cupcake stand, photos, and scrapbook.  The pom poms are from ADashofColor on Etsy.  The birthday outfit is from ChicBabyRose on Etsy and the cake is from Theme Cakes by Traci.  Here is a little of what Erin had to say about this event:

“We celebrated at my parents beach house near Galveston. My girls wore matching outfits from Etsy that were so cute! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a picture of them together because….well, they are 3 and 1 so they don’t always cooperate! ha! We grilled burgers and hot dogs while the kids played bubbles, threw water balloons, and grabbed candy from the pinata. After all the celebrating, we headed on the beach for play!”

A special thanks to Erin for sharing this adorable Pink Sparkle Party with us! You can see more of this party here on her blog.

Fabulous Cake Friday: Social Bites
August 13th, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 6 Comments

It’s Friday again and this week’s Fabulous Cake comes from one of my new favorite designers, Heather from Social Bites of Ruston.  This cake is almost too adorable for words.  I love the pink and green color scheme not to mention the girly owl with her long lashes and the sweet lollipops!
Owl Cake by Social Bites of Ruston

I can’t help look at this cake and think of the old school Owl Tootsie Pop commercial.  “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?  1… 2… 3… crunch!”  I know, I know.  That is so not what this design is actually about and I’m probably dating myself by referencing this super old commercial.  It’s still fun though!  For those of you who actually remember this commercial…. you can watch it here.

A very special thank you to Heather from Social Bites for sharing her adorable Owl Lollipop Cake with us and to Karie Potts of K&K Photography for the gorgeous image.  Be sure to check back on Monday when we feature this entire party with all of it’s owl goodness!

Happy Friday everyone!

Real Party: Woodland Birthday
August 4th, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 4 Comments

Lately I’ve seen many woodland and enchanted forest parties for little girls.  But what about the little boys?  To me, it always seems harder to make a theme work for a boy.  So I was very excited to see today’s real party!  This woodland birthday party was created by Belinda from Nest Design Studio for her son’s first birthday.  Inspired by her son’s owl nursery, this party is both whimsical and appropriate for a little man.  Let’s take a look!

I love the red, navy and aqua color scheme coupled with the playful polka dot accents.  The owl cake, toadstool marshmallow pops and chocolate nests fit perfectly into the theme.  Not to mention the Gnome guarding the champagne glasses adorned with owl name tags.

Kudos to Belinda on this fabulous party!  You can find all of the party details here on her blog.  And be sure to check out the adorable owl themed nursery that inspired it all.
