Cakes for a Cure
April 27th, 2010 by Carrie Sellman | 3 Comments

Over the weekend, the American Cancer Society in Greenwood, South Carolina held a huge cake-themed fundraiser.  This day long event included challenges where individuals could compete for the best tasting cake and the best decorated cake and was wrapped up with a concert and cake social.  This sounds like my kind of event!  Enjoying cake for a good cause!

As part of this event, talented cake designers across the country were asked to create a cake for a 2010/2011 calendar.  The inspiration was “With a Song in My Heart”, meaning each designer was asked to choose a song and design a cake around it.  One of our very own Top Tier designers, Rick Reichart of cakelava, is featured in the calendar!

Cakes for a Cure Calendar

So for all of you cake lovers, be sure to order a calendar while you still can.  The calendar is an 18-month calendar starting July 2010 and running through December 2011.  The cost is $20 and the best part is that $7.50 will be donated to the American Cancer Society for each calendar purchased.  How can you resist cake and a good cause?  Click here for an order form.

We also have t-shirts ($10) and aprons ($15) with “Finding a Cure is No Cakewalk” and “Surviving Cancer is Icing on the Cake” — Sizes S to XL, but limited number available in some sizes. I’d be happy to take any orders for these, too!
